CEI-Bois – the European Confederation of the Woodworking Industries – is the leading European umbrella organization representing the industrial woodworking sector at European and international level. Founded in 1952 and headquartered in Brussels, the Confederation brings together national woodworking associations and European sector federations representing companies across the wood-processing and wood-products value chain.

CEI-Bois represents industries involved in the manufacture and processing of wood and wood-based products for construction, building components, interiors, packaging and other industrial applications. The sector includes timber construction products, structural wood, engineered wood solutions, panels, flooring, joinery, windows, doors and other manufactured wood products.

The Confederation represents and safeguards the interests of the European woodworking industries in dialogue with European Union institutions, policymakers, regulators, standardization bodies and other industry stakeholders. Its activities focus on sustainable construction, climate and energy policy, circular economy, bioeconomy, international trade, technical standards, social affairs, research, innovation and industrial competitiveness.

CEI-Bois actively promotes wood as a renewable, recyclable and low-carbon material and supports the increased use of long-lasting wood products in construction. It advocates for sustainable forest management, responsible sourcing, carbon storage in wood products, resource efficiency and the substitution of more carbon-intensive materials with renewable wood-based solutions.

Through specialized working groups, policy advocacy, technical expertise, research projects and cooperation with national and European partner organizations, CEI-Bois provides a common platform for the European woodworking industry and supports its transition toward a competitive, innovative, circular and climate-neutral economy.
