EAE – the European Association for External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS) – is the European umbrella organization representing the ETICS industry and the wider value chain involved in external thermal insulation and energy-efficient building envelopes. Founded in 2008, EAE brings together national ETICS associations, European supplier associations, manufacturers of ETICS systems and components, as well as research and testing institutes.

The association acts as the collective voice of the European ETICS sector and represents a major share of the European market. Its members and partners cover the full system value chain, including thermal insulation materials, adhesives, mechanical fixings, reinforcement meshes, base coats, finishing renders, profiles, accessories and other components used in façade insulation systems.

EAE works to improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of Europe’s building stock by promoting high-performance external thermal insulation systems for both new construction and renovation. The organization emphasizes the importance of the building envelope in reducing heating and cooling demand, lowering carbon emissions, improving indoor comfort and supporting Europe’s climate-neutrality objectives.

A major part of EAE’s activity is dedicated to European technical standardization, regulation and product performance. The association represents the ETICS sector in CEN standardization activities, maintains cooperation with EOTA and engages directly with the European Commission and other European institutions on construction-product legislation, energy-efficiency policy and building regulations.

EAE also develops technical guidance and supports quality assurance across the complete ETICS value chain, including system design, product manufacturing and professional installation. Through technical committees, task groups, research projects and industry publications, the association promotes harmonized standards, durable systems, correct installation practices and improved life-cycle performance.

Sustainability and circular economy are increasingly important areas of EAE’s work. The association supports research and industry initiatives addressing the durability, maintenance, reuse and recycling of ETICS components and promotes solutions that reduce the environmental impact of the European building stock.

Through policy advocacy, technical expertise, market communication, professional networking and events such as the European ETICS Forum and EAE Awards, EAE connects manufacturers, suppliers, installers, designers, researchers and public authorities and supports the long-term competitiveness and sustainable development of the European façade-insulation industry.
