Cortizo Expanded Its uPVC Portfolio with the Launch of the A 78 Hinged Series
Cortizo Expanded Its uPVC Portfolio with the Launch of the A 78 Hinged Series, Delivering High Thermal Performance and Streamlined Production for Large-Scale Projects.
Earlier this year, Cortizo introduced the A 78 uPVC hinged series, a next-generation window and door system that combined clean, straight-line aesthetics with outstanding energy efficiency.
With a 78 mm profile depth and six internal chambers, the A 78 achieved a Uw value from 0.80 W/m²K, further enhanced to ≥0.74 W/m²K in its Passivhaus-certified version for warm-temperate climates—making it an ideal choice for low-energy buildings. The system supported glazing up to 48 mm and offered acoustic insulation of up to 46 dB, ensuring maximum interior comfort.

Designed with production efficiency in mind, the A 78 used the same reinforcement in sash, frame and inverter, simplifying large-scale manufacturing and reducing lead times. “It’s a competitive solution for high-volume projects, combining insulation performance, modern design and fast manufacturing,” noted Iván Ferro, Commercial Director of Cortizo uPVC at the time of the launch.
The series also featured a central gasket to improve airtightness and lightweight seals in the frame and sashes for smoother operation. Architecturally, it offered 100% straight lines, a reduced central section of just 110 mm, and a slim visible perimeter of 98 mm to maximise natural light.
Available as a window, balcony door or hinged door, the A 78 accommodated sashes up to 1,400 mm wide, 2,500 mm high and 130 kg in weight. In AEV performance testing, it achieved Class 4 air permeability, E1800 water tightness and C5 wind resistance—confirming its suitability for demanding residential and commercial applications.
With the launch of the A 78 uPVC hinged series, Cortizo strengthened its position in the European fenestration market, offering a product that blends high thermal performance, refined aesthetics and production efficiency for large-scale developments.
