pba Launches “Architectural Hardware Europe” Catalogue: A Manifesto for Sustainability and Inclusive Design

Italian hardware manufacturer pba has unveiled its new catalogue, Architectural Hardware Europe, a guide to its collections that highlights the company’s commitment to sustainability, inclusiveness and design excellence. More than a product directory, the publication is framed as a manifesto for a new way of thinking about architectural hardware.

Opening doors – literally and metaphorically.

For pba, hardware is not a silent detail but a cultural statement. The new catalogue celebrates the company’s philosophy: “Even a pull tells who we are, so let’s do it even better.” From universities to hospitals, from retail spaces to landmark buildings, pba fittings are presented as touchpoints that shape experiences and identities.

The catalogue underscores how design inclusiveness lies at the heart of pba’s mission. Accessibility, the company insists, is not about reducing people to “common necessity” but about valuing diversity, uniqueness and dignity. Every handle, grab bar and pull is designed to open doors for all – in both the physical and symbolic sense.

Sustainability as long-term consistency.

Sustainability is presented not as a marketing claim but as consistency revealed over time. pba’s products are designed for full disassembly and recyclability, contributing to LEED credits and complying with REACH regulations. Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Red List Free Declare Labels provide transparency, while the use of recyclable materials such as stainless steel and copper reinforces the company’s responsibility.

“We cannot avoid being sustainable if we truly believe in the ‘for all’,” the catalogue states, positioning inclusiveness and sustainability as inseparable values.

Embellishing function with beauty.

The new guide highlights how pba elevates even the most functional items – such as bathroom grab bars or drawer pulls – into objects of design, combining durability with aesthetic refinement. The company’s identity is captured in the phrase: “Strong as steel, constantly changing as copper.”

Women leaders and partnerships with global architects and designers are also acknowledged as part of the company’s DNA, shaping its trajectory towards a more responsible and inclusive future.

A universal ambition.

The Architectural Hardware Europe catalogue thus acts as more than a collection of products. It is a statement of intent: to build with inclusiveness, beauty and sustainability as universal values.

pba’s challenge is simple but ambitious: to create objects that are not only good to use, but good for all.
