QUALICOAT UK & Ireland has introduced QR codes on all member certificates, allowing stakeholders to verify a company’s licence status instantly.

The move transforms certificates from static documents into live credentials, giving specifiers, contractors and procurement teams a faster and more reliable way to confirm compliance. By scanning the QR code, users are directed to the company’s profile within the QUALICOAT QCT360 database, where they can check whether the licence is currently valid.

If active, the record shows key information including the licence number, licence type, certification year and expiry date. According to QUALICOAT UK & Ireland, this added level of transparency is intended to reduce the risk of errors, misrepresentation and the specification of non-compliant suppliers.

Chris Mansfield, chair of QUALICOAT UK & Ireland, said the initiative reflects the organisation’s focus on trust and transparency, adding that a printed or digital certificate alone does not always guarantee that a company or system still holds a valid licence.

He said the introduction of QR codes responds to growing industry demands for evidence-based compliance, helping decision-makers carry out due diligence more efficiently across specification, procurement and audit processes.

QUALICOAT said the development is part of its wider programme of continuous improvement, designed to keep the quality label relevant, robust and trusted throughout the supply chain.

The system also offers added protection for licensed members by clearly distinguishing compliant operators from businesses whose licences may have lapsed or are no longer valid.

An updated list of QUALICOAT UK & Ireland members, including powder coaters, powder manufacturers and pre-treatment system suppliers, is available through the organisation’s website.
