VBH broadens greenteQ Velocity hinge portfolio with new finishes
In a market where colour consistency and installation efficiency increasingly influence hardware selection, VBH has expanded its greenteQ Velocity door hinge range with the introduction of two additional finishes: RAL 7038 Agate Grey and Antique Black, both available.
The two-knuckle ‘T-Hinge’ has been designed specifically for rebated PVCu doors with a sash upstand dimension between 16mm and 24mm, making it suitable for both single and double residential configurations. Greater rebate requirements can be accommodated through the use of packers beneath the frame bearing, offering additional flexibility for fabricators.
Designed for speed and adjustment
Velocity’s appeal lies as much in its installation profile as its visual options. The hinge requires a jig only to drill two holes in the frame, streamlining preparation and reducing workshop time. VBH reports that recent time trials have seen a hinge fully fitted in under one minute — a claim that underscores its positioning as a productivity-driven component.
Once installed, the hinge offers generous 3D adjustment on site, enabling installers to fine-tune alignment quickly and ensure consistent door operation. This capacity for post-installation adjustment remains particularly valuable on coloured or foiled doors, where precise detailing is more visible.
Performance credentials aligned with compliance
Beyond aesthetics and fitting efficiency, Velocity is rated to carry doors weighing up to 100kg and has been successfully tested to PAS24:2022 as part of a PVCu doorset. It is also approved under Secured by Design, the official police security initiative.
With the addition of Agate Grey and Antique Black, the range now comprises fifteen painted and plated finishes. For fabricators responding to the continued growth of coloured door demand, expanded stock availability may simplify specification and reduce lead times.
In an environment where differentiation often lies in detail rather than system architecture, hardware evolution remains a quiet but strategic lever in product development.
