LAMILUX Reaffirms Safety of GRP Products Amid Industry Concerns Over Hazardous Emissions

Last Updated: August 26, 2025By Tags: , ,

Following recent reports by German broadcaster ZDF’s Frontal program on potentially harmful emissions from certain recreational vehicles, LAMILUX Composites has clarified that its glass-fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) products are not affected by the issues raised. The report highlighted elevated levels of benzene, styrene, and formaldehyde in some manually laminated GRP high roofs.

LAMILUX stressed that its GRP materials are produced through a continuous, industrial, and digitally controlled process — a stark contrast to hand laminates, where chemical reactions can occur in uncontrolled conditions. This method ensures high process reliability, precise control of reaction parameters, and consistently low-emission results, guaranteeing safety across all applications.

All LAMILUX GRP products meet or exceed stringent legal and industry requirements, including:

  • REACH compliance without Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC);

  • French VOC label – Class A for formaldehyde emissions in gelcoat-coated products;

  • AgBB testing for safe materials in Germany’s building product sector;

  • SCS Indoor Advantage™ Gold certification for healthy indoor air quality;

For caravan and motorhome manufacturers, this means maximum product safety, smoother certification with external inspection bodies, and a lasting positive brand image.

“Whether in roof, wall, or floor structures, our products stand for reliability, health compatibility, and cutting-edge technological quality,” the company emphasized, offering full documentation to customers for internal use and communication with trade partners.
